Balanced Nutrition Balanced Life

About Me

Hi, I’m Avi Brar, a Registered Dietitian based in Calgary. I serve clients virtually across Alberta and British Columbia, offering support in both English and Punjabi.

I’ve been practicing for 6 years, and I became a dietitian because I’ve always been fascinated by how food impacts our body, energy, and mood, and how our nutritional needs evolve throughout different stages of life.

I help people feel their best through simple, sustainable nutrition and realistic lifestyle changes. My approach is practical, balanced, and personalized. Together, we focus on small, manageable process goals that lead to meaningful, lasting results, because real change doesn’t come from extremes, it comes from consistency.

When life feels out of control, food can either add to that stress or become a source of comfort and stability. I want to help you feel confident knowing that you can take control of your habits in a way that feels empowering, not restrictive. Healthy eating should be enjoyable, satisfying, and aligned with your goals.

I also understand the reality of the Canadian lifestyle, busy workweeks, weekends filled with errands, and finally having a day off where you’re too exhausted to do anything… yet feel like you should be doing more. That cycle can create stress, guilt, and even lead to overeating. Together, we’ll build structure, accountability, and routines that help you feel more in control so you can create space for both productivity and true rest.

Our work goes beyond just food. We look at the full picture including sleep, stress, movement, mood, hydration, digestion, and even skin health, because everything is connected.

Fun facts about me: I love spin classes (I need a good sweat to reset!), I value my alone time to recharge, and I love spending time with family and friends,… especially when there’s a fun activity or great food involved!

Services

Registered Dietitian Services British Columbia and Alberta. Virtual/remote services only.

*In-person follow-ups are booked only upon request and based on availability.

  • This 75-minute session is a comprehensive look at your nutrition and lifestyle.

We’ll talk about where you’ve been, where you’re at right now, and where you want to go. I’ll ask questions about your health history, daily routines, challenges, and goals so I can really understand the full picture.

From there, we’ll set realistic, personalized goals together and map out your first steps. You’ll leave with clarity, direction, and a plan that feels practical and doable.

  • Follow-up sessions are 60 minutes and are tailored to you.

The frequency of follow-ups depends on your needs, goals, and the level of support you’re looking for. Some clients prefer more regular check-ins, while others space them out — we’ll decide what makes the most sense for you.

During these sessions, we’ll review your progress, talk through any new challenges that have come up, and adjust your plan as needed. There’s always space for questions, troubleshooting, and refining your goals so they continue to feel realistic and supportive.

These sessions are where accountability, problem-solving, and real-life application come together — helping you stay on track in a way that feels sustainable.
